David Lynch : "Tout est basé sur les échecs. Les scientifiques essuient plein d'échecs avant de faire une découverte. ABC a rendu service à Mulholland Drive, en en refusant le pilote. Il fallait que ce projet en passe par là, ça a été très profitable. Un pilote, c'est particulier. Ce n'est pas un long métrage. En fait, ça va à l'encontre des règles du long métrage, parce que vous ouvrez des pistes narratives sans les refermer." (Source)
